Paediatric First Aid course
Paediatric first aid (PFA) is a 2-day training course that is designed to provide first aiders within the Childcare setting, knowledge and skills they need to respond effectively to First Aid situations. This qualification is the preferred choice in the EYFS framework.
This course is suitable for people aged 16+ who need to be qualified in first aid as they care for babies and children in a professional setting, including:
Meets the EYFS framework
Is suitable for first aiders who require their initial PFA certificate as well as those refreshing their qualification
Is widely recognised as a level 3 first aid qualification
Is delivered at your workplace

What does this course cover?
This 2-day course ensures learners are able to understand, and where relevant, apply the following skills when helping an Infant or Child. Learners will develop the skills and confidence to help someone who is:
Unresponsive and not breathing, including how to use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)
Unresponsive and breathing
Choking
Bleeding
Has an object in their ear, nose or eye
Has hypothermia or heat exhaustion
Has a sickness or fever
Suffering from a burn or scald
The course also enables you to be confident if a infant or child is having a medical emergency including:
Meningitis
Diabetic Emergency
Seizures
Asthma Attack
Anaphylaxis (Severe allergic reaction)
Injury to a bone, muscle or join, including spinal injuries
Head Injury
Poisoning
How long is an Paediatric First Aid certificate valid for?
Upon successfully completing the course, learners will be awarded an Ofqual Accredited Paediatric first aid certificate. This qualification remains valid for a period of three years.
FAQ’s
At Starfish Training we ask for a minimum of 3 learners and a maximum of 12 learners. This is to ensure teaching and learning is effective throughout.

The learners have to be 14 to take part, and 16 to be certified. No upper age limit!
Electronic Certificates can be with you the next day. Paper copies will be with you the next week.
